Minister Visits Karachi Women’s Prison, Reviews Inmate Welfare

Minister for Women’s Development Visits Karachi Women’s Prison, Reviews Welfare Facilities

Karachi Web Desk – Minister for Women’s Development, Shaheena Sher Ali, visited the Karachi Women’s Prison to assess the facilities and welfare services provided to female inmates. She was accompanied by MNA and National Parliamentary Women’s Caucus Convener, Dr. Shahida Rehmani, along with DIG Prisons and PS Akbar Hassan Jokhio.

During her visit, the minister inspected various skill development programs designed to empower incarcerated women. These initiatives include arts and crafts training, beauty courses, sewing and embroidery workshops, and computer literacy programs.

The prison administration highlighted the urgent need for additional computers and sewing machines to expand skill-building opportunities. They emphasized that enhancing these programs would help inmates develop valuable skills, enabling them to reintegrate into society successfully after serving their sentences.

This visit underscores the government’s commitment to women’s rehabilitation, empowerment, and skill development, ensuring better prospects for incarcerated women in the future.
