Beijing, China Web Desk: Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, reaffirmed the country’s unwavering alliance with China during a high-profile meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic partnership with China takes precedence over all other alliances, citing the shared borders and deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
President Zardari arrived at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, where he was warmly received by President Xi Jinping. A ceremonial guard of honor was presented by China’s armed forces, and both national anthems were played in a grand welcome ceremony.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed key bilateral issues, including the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan and the acceleration of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. The discussions also covered regional and international matters, with a focus on expanding cooperation in various sectors.
President Zardari underscored the geographical and historical importance of Pakistan-China relations, stating, “Our bond with China is unparalleled. Claiming that any other country is closer to us than our neighbor would be incorrect.” He further highlighted that while other nations are thousands of kilometers away, China shares a direct border with Pakistan, making their alliance naturally stronger.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by both nations, including extremist threats, but firmly stated that no act of terrorism could weaken the Pakistan-China friendship. “Despite global conflicts and security concerns, Pakistan and China will always stand together,” he asserted.
President Zardari praised China’s remarkable economic progress and prosperity, attributing it to visionary leadership and the dedication of the Chinese people. In response, President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s unwavering trust in Pakistan, calling the two nations “iron brothers” and “all-weather strategic partners.” He emphasized the significance of CPEC and other collaborative initiatives as symbols of their strong bilateral ties.
Following the meeting, both countries signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in multiple fields. In honor of the Pakistani delegation, President Xi hosted a state banquet, where Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, held a special discussion with the Chinese President regarding security measures for Chinese nationals and counterterrorism efforts in Pakistan.
Additionally, President Zardari met with the Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee to further strengthen parliamentary ties between the two nations.
With these high-level engagements, Pakistan and China continue to reinforce their historic bond, paving the way for deeper economic, strategic, and diplomatic cooperation in the future.
