U.S. Sanctions Are Unjustified, No Compromise on Nuclear Program: Prime Minister

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that the sanctions imposed by the United States are baseless and that Pakistan will not compromise on its nuclear program.

Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister condemned recent terrorist attacks, saying, “Seventeen security personnel were martyred in an attack by militants a few days ago. Our forces retaliated effectively, sending several attackers to their doom. The Army Chief personally visited the troops to boost their morale. All available resources are being utilized to combat terrorism, and we will not rest until it is eradicated.”

He highlighted recent incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, noting that the sectarian violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was particularly tragic.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to standing by security forces in the fight against terrorism. He stated, “The federal government, in coordination with the provinces, is taking robust measures against terrorism.”

Regarding U.S. sanctions on Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, Shehbaz Sharif said, “These sanctions are unjustified. Pakistan’s nuclear program is solely for national defense and represents the will of our 240 million people. There will be no compromise on our nuclear program.”

Shehbaz Sharif also spoke about recent political developments, saying, “A meeting was held with PTI’s committee yesterday. Discussions will be conducted in the spirit of national interest, fostering unity. I have no doubts about anyone’s intentions, and I hope both committees will arrive at a solution beneficial for the country.”

On the economic front, the Prime Minister said, “Inflation is at its lowest since 2018. Exports are increasing, and my recent discussions with Dr. Younis in Cairo were positive. Additionally, relations with Bangladesh are improving, and we are now exporting rice to Bangladesh.”
