Azerbaijani President Responds Strongly After Putin’s Apology for Plane Crash

Baku Web Desk: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has reacted strongly to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s apology regarding the plane crash in Kazakhstan. Aliyev accused Russian authorities of making deliberate attempts to conceal the facts surrounding the incident.

According to international media reports, the Azerbaijani passenger plane, which crashed in Kazakhstan on December 25, was allegedly targeted by a Russian attack.

Responding to Putin’s apology for the crash, President Aliyev stated, “Our plane was shot down accidentally, but unfortunately, we witnessed clear attempts to hide the truth about the incident. For the first three days, all we heard from Russia were absurd claims.”

The crash occurred near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan, resulting in 38 fatalities and 29 injuries.

Three days after the crash, Russian President Vladimir Putin admitted to President Aliyev that the plane had been mistakenly shot down and offered an apology. However, prior to this, the Kremlin had claimed that the crash was caused by a bird strike and adverse weather conditions, which forced the plane to change its route.
