Islamabad Web Desk: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has claimed that his party played a key role in improving the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), making it more effective and balanced.
Speaking to the media, Bilawal stated that the Standing Committee had made significant amendments to the PECA law. He emphasized that through active engagement with the government, PPP helped introduce several reforms, resulting in a much-improved version of the act compared to its previous form.
“The PECA law is now in a better state, thanks to the efforts of the PPP,” Bilawal asserted.
He further added that if the media and digital media representatives had been consulted before implementing the act, the outcome would have been even more favorable. He urged the government to build consensus before making legislative changes in the future.
The PPP chairman also pointed out that his party does not have the required numbers in Parliament to pass laws unilaterally.
It is worth noting that just a day earlier, the National Assembly approved the PECA (Amendment) Bill 2025, which was passed by a majority vote in the lower house.
