PTI to Challenge £190 Million Al-Qadir Trust Case Verdict: Key Decisions Revealed

Islamabad Web Desk:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to challenge the verdict in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case within the next 48 hours.

An exclusive account from PTI’s core committee meeting has surfaced, shedding light on discussions surrounding the political and legal strategies following the controversial decision. The committee also reviewed the Supreme Court’s previous rulings regarding the conduct of the judge who issued the verdict.

Legal Team Highlights Flaws in Verdict

According to insiders, PTI’s legal team provided a detailed briefing, pointing out significant legal loopholes in the judgment. The committee deliberated on including the Supreme Court’s observations on the judge’s conduct as part of their official challenge.

Focus on Political Strategy

The core committee also assessed the government’s approach to negotiations with PTI. Members expressed concerns that the government is avoiding dialogue, calling its attitude undemocratic. “They assumed that PTI’s leadership wouldn’t come to the negotiating table, but we’ve shown serious intent by submitting our demands in writing,” stated senior PTI leader Umar Ayub.

Internal Criticism and Plans for Protests

During the meeting, PTI leader Alia Hamza criticized the party’s lack of protests following the verdict against PTI’s chairman. She stressed, “Our focus must remain on the leader’s release. Why hasn’t the party protested yet?”

In response, the committee resolved to stage a major protest on February 8, following directives from PTI’s chairman. After consulting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, it was decided that the protest’s logistics and arrangements will be finalized soon.

Weekly Meetings Requested

Committee members proposed holding weekly meetings to stay updated on the party’s plans and decisions, as many felt out of the loop. “We often find out about key developments only through the media. This needs to change,” voiced one member.

PTI remains steadfast in its stance to address the legal and political challenges posed by the Al-Qadir Trust case. The upcoming days are expected to reveal critical developments in the party’s strategy to counter the verdict and ensure justice.
