Karachi, Web Desk: The Sindh Livestock Expo 2025 commenced with a vibrant ceremony, marking a milestone event in the province’s agricultural and livestock sectors. Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, graced the event, accompanied by Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Muhammad Ali Malkani, and Secretary for Fisheries and Livestock, Kazim Jatoi, who welcomed him warmly.

The Expo, showcasing over 2,000 animals and 1,000 birds, features 11 breeds of cattle, 2 types of buffalo, 17 goat species, 4 breeds of sheep, 5 horse varieties, 2 camel types, and even exotic animals like snakes, eagles, dogs, and cats. The three-day event, running until January 19, 2025, promises to bring together farmers, scientists, policymakers, and investors to discuss innovation and sustainability in agriculture and livestock.

Chief Minister’s Address

In his address, CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized the vital role of agriculture in the province’s economy and its significant contribution to the national GDP. “Agriculture accounts for 61% of the sector’s contribution to GDP, with livestock alone adding 14%,” he noted, highlighting its importance in rural livelihoods.

He acknowledged the struggles faced by small-scale farmers, stating, “Livestock serves as both a source of income and a lifeline for small farmers who face daily challenges to earn an honest living.”

Overcoming Challenges in Livestock Development

The Chief Minister pointed out the barriers hindering the growth of the livestock sector, including limited resources, outdated practices, and restricted access to modern technology. He reiterated the government’s commitment to overcoming these challenges through strategic partnerships with global organizations and private enterprises.

“We are determined to empower rural communities by introducing advanced farming techniques, enhancing animal health, and increasing productivity,” he stated.

Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized the government’s vision to create a sustainable ecosystem for farmers and investors, fostering collaboration for mutual growth. “We aim for a brighter, sustainable future where farmers, businesses, and investors can thrive together,” he added, expressing hope for collective efforts to drive development.
