Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Meets Chinese Business Delegation
Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a meeting with a Chinese business delegation to explore investment and development opportunities in the province. Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, CM’s Special Assistant Syed Qasim Naveed, Secretary to CM Rahim Sheikh, and Secretary for Investment Khurram Shehzad were present during the meeting.
The delegation comprised representatives from nine medical companies, including Meng Xiaowei, Dr. M. Shahbaz, Zheng Wei of Agricultural Biochar Corporation, Hong Pizheng of Livestock, Wu Liangliang and Zhou Guohao of photovoltaic companies, Weng Gang—a major importer of livestock products in Pakistan, Liu Wenbo of masterbatch business, Wang Xin of photovoltaic wind power, Xu Zhigang of solar energy companies, and M. Ali Akbar of agriculture companies. Pakistani translator Li Wenjie also accompanied the group.
Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah highlighted investment and development opportunities in Sindh, emphasizing key sectors such as agriculture, livestock, renewable energy, and industrial production.
The CM discussed potential collaboration in health technology, pharmaceuticals, and the supply chain of medical equipment. He also emphasized agricultural development and the application of biochar technology to improve productivity.
Murad Ali Shah informed the delegation about opportunities in livestock farming, processing, and import/export. The delegation showed keen interest in solar and wind energy projects, expressing willingness to explore joint ventures, technology transfer, and training programs.
Discussions included incentives for setting up industries in Sindh’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), the potential of the province’s ports, road and railway networks, and policies to simplify regulatory processes and provide tax relief.
The delegation and Sindh government representatives agreed to form joint working groups for each sector to facilitate collaboration. Follow-up meetings were scheduled to finalize project details.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted investment opportunities in public transportation, while Planning and Development Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah briefed the delegation on infrastructure development projects.
The CM underlined the historic relations between Pakistan and China and the growing economic partnership between the two nations, concluding the meeting on a note of mutual cooperation and optimism.
