Decisions on More Individuals Involved in May 9 Events Expected in a Few Days: Rana Sanaullah
Islamabad Web Desk:Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that decisions regarding additional individuals involved in the May 9 events will be finalized within a day or two.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that cases related to the May 9 incidents, including the 190 million-pound case involving the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are among the matters under review.
He clarified that these cases should remain independent of any negotiations. While backchannel communication with PTI leaders continues, Rana Sanaullah advised the party to abandon its strategy of issuing deadlines and warnings.
On the same program, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan remarked that any decision against Imran Khan would inevitably impact ongoing negotiations. He questioned how a ruling against the party’s founder could avoid influencing the dialogue process.
Ali Muhammad Khan further called for judicial investigations into the May 9 events, arguing that military courts do not provide defendants with adequate opportunities for defense. He stressed that only verdicts issued by civilian courts would carry credible weight.
It is worth noting that 25 individuals found guilty of involvement in the May 9 incidents were sentenced by military courts the previous day.
