The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, emphasized that any attempt to disrupt the nation’s peace will be met with a decisive and robust response. During his visit to Peshawar, he met with political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to discuss efforts to strengthen law and order in the region.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir was welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar upon his arrival. He received a detailed briefing on the current security situation and the ongoing counter-terrorism operations targeting extremist groups. Federal Interior Minister and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also present during the briefing.
The Army Chief praised the sacrifices and resilience of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies, calling their achievements in the fight against terrorism a source of national pride.
“Our forces have demonstrated unmatched bravery, professionalism, and dedication in dismantling terrorist networks and infrastructure,” said General Munir. “We have eliminated key terrorist leaders and neutralized their operations, sending a clear message: terrorism has no place in Pakistan. This fight will continue until we achieve lasting peace, God willing.”
He also lauded the relentless efforts of security forces in ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining stability by thwarting numerous planned attacks.
General Munir reiterated that Pakistan’s security apparatus remains resolute in protecting the nation’s sovereignty. “The enemies who seek to spread fear and chaos will face a firm and unyielding response. We will not retreat, and such adversaries will suffer significant setbacks,” he added.
During his visit, the Army Chief held separate meetings with leaders of various political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Aimal Wali of the Awami National Party, Hafiz Naeem of Jamaat-e-Islami, and former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
The discussions highlighted the need for a united political front and public support to combat terrorism. They agreed that political unity is essential to eradicate extremist ideologies and ensure national peace.
General Munir concluded by commending the unwavering morale of the armed forces and their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty. “Our military and law enforcement agencies stand united as an indomitable force, ready to defend the motherland at all costs,” he said.
This collaborative approach, coupled with the bravery of Pakistan’s security forces, underscores the nation’s resolve to eliminate all threats and secure a peaceful future.
