Imran Khan & Bushra Bibi’s Appeals Rejected Over Legal Objections

£190 Million Case: Appeals Against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Convictions Face Objections.

Islamabad Web Desk: Islamabad High Court’s Registrar Office has raised objections against the appeals filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, challenging their convictions in the £190 million corruption case.

According to sources, the Registrar’s Office returned the appeals, citing procedural shortcomings. The court directed the petitioners to rectify the objections and refile the appeals.

Objections Raised by the Court

The Registrar’s Office highlighted that the appeals were submitted without a mandatory certification stating that the case was not under trial in any other court. Additionally, some pages of the appeal lacked signatures, further prompting the court’s objections.

Background of the Case

Earlier, the accountability court sentenced Imran Khan to 14 years in prison, while Bushra Bibi received a 7-year sentence for aiding in alleged financial misconduct. The court also imposed fines of Rs 1 million on Imran Khan and Rs 500,000 on Bushra Bibi.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned the verdict and announced plans to challenge the convictions in higher courts.

This legal battle marks another chapter in the ongoing political turmoil surrounding Imran Khan, raising serious concerns about the transparency and fairness of judicial proceedings in Pakistan.
