
Islamabad Web Desik– Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a significant decline in inflation, expressing hope that this will reduce the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, the Prime Minister highlighted that inflation has dropped to 4.9%, marking the lowest rate in a long time. He emphasized that inflation directly impacts the poor and underscored the importance of sustaining this downward trend while focusing on economic growth.
“We permitted the export of sugar but ensured its price did not rise domestically,” the Prime Minister noted, adding that the smuggling of sugar to Afghanistan has been reduced to zero.
Reflecting on past political unrest, Prime Minister Sharif stated that protests and sit-ins had caused chaos in the country, leading to tragic losses of law enforcement personnel in Islamabad and a single-day drop of 3,500 points in the stock market.
The Prime Minister also criticized prior statements made in the National Assembly regarding alleged fake pilot licenses, saying such claims had caused significant damage to the country’s reputation.
He congratulated Khawaja Asif on the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to Europe, calling it a key achievement for the national carrier.
The government’s focus now, according to Prime Minister Sharif, is to drive economic stability and growth while maintaining strict measures to control inflation and support the common man.
