Sindh CM Congratulates IG Memon on Well-Deserved Promotion
KARACHI Web Desk– Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has been promoted to Grade 22 in recognition of his dedicated service. The rank pinning ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s House, where Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah personally pinned the new rank badges on the IG.
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Home Secretary Iqbal Memon, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, DIG Fida Mastoi, DIG Asif Ejaz Sheikh, and other distinguished guests.

During the ceremony, CM Murad Ali Shah lauded IG Memon’s tireless efforts and commitment to maintaining law and order in Sindh. “This promotion is not just an honor but also an increased responsibility,” he stated.
In a lighthearted moment, the Chief Minister humorously remarked that while Ghulam Nabi Memon is known for his calm and composed demeanor, a police officer sometimes needs to be a bit tougher.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon and Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar also praised the IG’s contributions to the police force over the years and acknowledged his efforts in strengthening law enforcement.
Professional Journey of IG Ghulam Nabi Memon
Ghulam Nabi Memon has had a distinguished career in law enforcement, with several key milestones:
- 1991: Joined as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)
- 1993: Promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP)
- 2000: Elevated to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)
- 2009: Appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG)
- 2019: Took charge as Additional Inspector General (AIG)
- 2024: Serving as Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police
Throughout his career, IG Memon has served in both Sindh and Punjab provinces in various capacities. His experience also includes key assignments at the Chief Minister’s House, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Pakistani Embassy in the UK.
With his promotion, IG Ghulam Nabi Memon is expected to continue his efforts in leading the Sindh Police towards improved security and efficient law enforcement. His leadership will play a vital role in tackling emerging challenges in the province.
