Iran Intensifies Mediation to Ease Pak-India Tensions | Regional Peace Efforts Underway

According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit Pakistan tomorrow, where he will hold important meetings with the Pakistani leadership. After completing his visit to Islamabad, Araghchi will travel to New Delhi to engage with Indian officials in a bid to de-escalate the situation.

The Iranian foreign office confirmed that the purpose of Araghchi’s back-to-back visits is to reduce rising tensions and encourage diplomatic dialogue following the recent unrest. These developments reflect Tehran’s growing commitment to regional peace and stability.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister had offered to mediate between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Reinforcing this diplomatic push, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also held telephone conversations with both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi,

Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation in South Asia. The six-nation Arab bloc, through its Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi, has called upon both Pakistan and India to act with restraint and initiate immediate dialogue to resolve their differences through peaceful means.

In a statement, Al-Budaiwi emphasized the importance of diplomatic and non-violent solutions, stating, “Both nations should prioritize regional peace by engaging in direct and sincere negotiations.” The GCC’s stance adds further weight to the growing international calls for calm and diplomacy.

In another key development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. During these engagements, the Pakistani premier conveyed a clear message to the Gulf countries, urging them to play an active role in defusing tensions in the region.

The current situation underscores the need for regional players and global powers alike to step in and support diplomatic channels over confrontation. Iran’s proactive diplomacy, supported by the Gulf states’ concern and involvement, may pave the way for a much-needed thaw in Pakistan-India relations.
