“Why Perform Without a Hijab?” Iranian Singer Faces Trouble
Web Desk: Parastoo Ahmadi, a 27-year-old Iranian singer, has landed in serious trouble for performing without a hijab during a virtual concert.
Reports indicate that Ahmadi was arrested on allegations of appearing without a hijab in a video of her virtual concert posted on YouTube.
According to her lawyer, the singer uploaded a video of her performance online in which she was not wearing a hijab. A legal case was filed against her on Thursday, and she was taken into custody on Saturday in the city of Sari, located in Iran’s Mazandaran province.
Media reports also claim that two male musicians from the capital, Tehran, were arrested on the same day.
It is worth noting that wearing a hijab has been mandatory by law in Iran since the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
