Karachi: Water Supply Line Repairs Underway, Supply Remains Disrupted in Several Areas

Karachi Web Desk: The repair work on an 84-inch-diameter main water supply line from the Dhabeji Pumping Station, which burst on University Road, has led to a continued water supply disruption in various areas of Karachi.

According to officials, the damaged line supplies water to several key areas, including Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Bahadurabad, Lines Area, and Lyari. The damage occurred during excavation work for the Red Line project, resulting in a daily loss of 150 million gallons of water.

The Karachi Water Corporation claims that leaks at two out of the three affected spots have been fixed, and the third leak is expected to be repaired by Wednesday, restoring the water supply.

Tanzeer Sheikh from the Water Corporation stated that repair work has been ongoing round-the-clock, involving over 300 workers and heavy machinery. A 16-foot gap created during the drilling process caused delays in the repairs.

“We have completed the repairs on two sections of the pipeline, and work is progressing swiftly on the third. The water supply will be restored by Wednesday night and fully opened by Thursday,” Sheikh assured.

Authorities have urged residents of the affected areas to use water sparingly until the repairs are complete to avoid further inconvenience.
