Karachi's Urban Woes Addressed in High-Level Meeting Led by CM Murad Ali Shah

KARACHI Web Desk: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, chaired a high-level meeting to tackle the pressing urban challenges of Karachi. The session saw the participation of Provincial Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and other key officials.

According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the meeting focused on critical issues such as drainage, illegal parking, sanitation, and road maintenance. CM Murad Ali Shah issued strict directives to address these concerns effectively.

Real-Time Monitoring & Urban Cleanup Initiatives

To ensure transparency and efficiency, the Sindh government has launched a dedicated portal where Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners will be required to upload reports on sewerage, encroachments, and cleanliness. The CM stressed the importance of monitoring drainage overflows and illegal parking through an advanced surveillance system.

Road Maintenance & Centralized Permissions

The deteriorating condition of roads and unregulated road cutting have been major concerns. In response, CM Murad Ali Shah announced that moving forward, only the Mayor or Commissioner would have the authority to approve road-cutting permits. This decision aims to prevent unauthorized road damage and ensure a streamlined approach to infrastructure maintenance.

Enhanced Security & Public Convenience Ahead of Eid

As Ramadan enters its final phase, CM Murad Ali Shah directed law enforcement agencies to intensify police patrols across Karachi to ensure public safety during Eid shopping. He also emphasized the need for improved street lighting, better traffic management, and enhanced security measures in bustling markets.

Beautification & Development of Key Markets

CM Murad Ali Shah instructed Mayor Murtaza Wahab to revamp Karachi’s major markets, making them more visually appealing and shopper-friendly. He set a clear target for completing at least four markets by the end of the financial year.

Post-Eid Anti-Encroachment Drive

The CM also issued clear directives for the removal of illegal encroachments after Eid, ensuring that public spaces are reclaimed and properly utilized.

Accelerated Completion of Water Supply Projects

In a bid to resolve Karachi’s water woes, the CM urged officials to expedite the ongoing water pipeline project in Lyari. This step aims to provide residents with a steady and uninterrupted water supply.

With these decisive actions, the Sindh government is pushing for a cleaner, safer, and more efficient Karachi, ensuring that urban development keeps pace with the city’s growing needs.
