CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah Holds Meeting on Revenue Board Digitalization

KARACHI WEB DESK; In a significant step toward modernizing the Sindh Revenue Department, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Board of Revenue’s digitalization initiatives. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue Baqaullah Unar, Special Secretary Zaman Narejo, Member Revenue Ghulam Abbas Naich, and Project Director LARMIS Saifullah Abro, among others.

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

  1. Progress on Digitalization
    Officials briefed the Chief Minister about ongoing digital initiatives. A web portal is now operational for issuing sales certificates through Mukhtiarkar offices and Assistant Commissioners.
  2. Online Services for Public Convenience
  1. Simplifying Procedures for Citizens
    CM Murad Ali Shah emphasized minimizing unnecessary visits for applicants and directed the Board of Revenue to enable online fee payments. He also recommended the establishment of banking facilities within revenue offices for public convenience.
  2. Biometric Process Improvements
    The Chief Minister instructed that the biometric verification process should be completed in a single visit to facilitate citizens and save time.
  3. Comprehensive Digital Records
    CM Shah ordered the restructuring of the entire revenue record into a digital format. He tasked the department with digitizing the records of one rural and one urban Deh (village or settlement) as a pilot project within six weeks.
  4. Restoring Lost Records
    For records that were destroyed or lost, the Chief Minister instructed starting their digital reconstruction only after the initial phase of digitalization is complete.
  5. Software Development for Manual Records
    A new software solution is to be developed within two months to convert manual records into a fully digital format.
  6. One-Window Operations
    To streamline the issuance of sales certificates and e-registrations, the Chief Minister directed the creation of a one-window system to reduce procedural delays.
  7. Revenue Act Amendments
    CM Shah called for a summary of necessary amendments to the Revenue Act to align it with the department’s digital transformation goals.

These initiatives reflect the Sindh government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance transparency, efficiency, and convenience in public service delivery. The move is expected to revolutionize the province’s revenue management system, reduce corruption, and improve accessibility for citizens.
