Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Inaugurates Sukkur’s B-Section Police Station During One-Day Visit

Sukkur Web Desk: Sukkur witnessed a significant development as Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah arrived for a one-day visit, accompanied by key political and administrative figures. The highlight of his trip was the inauguration of the B-Section Police Station, a crucial security hub for the city’s bustling business community.

Key Officials in Attendance

The Chief Minister was joined by National Assembly Member Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah, Provincial Ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Ali Hassan Zardari, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, and Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon. Senior regional officials, including Sukkur Commissioner Fayaz Abbasi, DIG Sukkur Faisal Chachar, and SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal, as well as prominent business community representatives, were also present.

Briefing on the Importance of B-Section Police Station

During the event, Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar and IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon provided an in-depth briefing to the Chief Minister. IGP Memon emphasized that the B-Section Police Station holds strategic importance as it covers major markets in Sukkur, ensuring security for traders and shoppers alike.

Originally located near Shahi Bazaar, the previous station faced accessibility challenges due to heavy market congestion. To address this, officials proposed relocating it to an empty plot in Mochi Bazaar, a site that once housed a police checkpoint 35 years ago. The move aims to improve law enforcement efficiency and strengthen ties between the police and the business community. Entrepreneurs Amjad Sheikh and Bilal Khan played a key role in supporting the station’s construction.

Improving Law Enforcement and Public Trust

The Sindh government is committed to modernizing police infrastructure, with the recent inauguration of the Model Police Station in Abad serving as a testament to this initiative. Chief Minister Shah stressed the importance of community policing, urging officers to rebuild public trust and foster stronger police-community relations.

According to IGP Memon, law enforcement efforts in Sukkur have yielded positive results in the past three months, with an 81% crime-solving rate. Key statistics include:

  • 30 police encounters
  • 11 criminal gangs dismantled
  • 6 criminals neutralized and 5 injured
  • Significant drug seizures, including 62 kg of hashish, 45 grams of crystal meth, 68 kg of bhang, and nearly 3,000 kg of gutka
  • Recovery of stolen vehicles, including 4 cars, 33 motorcycles, and 6 other vehicles

Firm Stand Against Crime and Drug Abuse

Chief Minister Shah reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against minorities, children, and women. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking, ensuring a safer Sindh for all residents. Furthermore, he directed officials to implement computerized complaint registration in police stations to enhance transparency and efficiency.

Engaging with the Business Community

The visit concluded with a meeting between the Chief Minister and the Sukkur business community. Traders expressed their concerns and appreciated the government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing security and streamlining policing operations in commercial areas.

With the inauguration of the B-Section Police Station, the Sindh government takes another step towards strengthening law enforcement, improving public safety, and fostering economic stability in Sukkur. This development signals a promising future for crime prevention and community engagement in the region.
