ISLAMABAD Web Desk – In a critical bid to examine national security readiness, PM Shehbaz Sharif paid a visit to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Headquarters on Tuesday, with top civil and military leaders. The visit follows increased tensions with India, after a deadly attack in the disputed area of Jammu and Kashmir.
Throughout the briefing, the country’s premier intelligence officials introduced a thorough appraisal of the deteriorating regional threat environment. Particular attention was given to India’s growing hostile stance at the eastern frontier, and that necessitated renewed calls for increased operational preparedness.
In accordance with a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the leadership was comprehensively updated on a spectrum of threats—from conventional warfare to hybrid tactics, involving cyber threats and terrorism. The meeting emphasized the imperative for nationwide vigilance, seamless inter-agency coordination, and swift response mechanisms in order to safeguard the sovereignty of the country.
The Pakistan Army is among the most professional and disciplined in the world,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz, praising the ISI’s role in protecting national interests through strategic foresight and intelligence excellence.
Firm Resolve to Defend Pakistan’s Borders
With complete support from the nation, the military and state institutions are ready to deter any conventional or non-conventional threat.
With them were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, which signified the joint civil-military leadership in meeting national security issues.

PM Inaugurates NIFTAC – Pakistan’s New Counterterrorism Nerve Center
Later in the day, PM Shehbaz opened the National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (NIFTAC) in Islamabad—a historic milestone towards boosting Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts.
NIFTAC will serve as the single interface for intelligence gathering, analysis, and response to threats, uniting more than 50 federal and provincial institutions into one centralized system. In addition, it is linked with six Provincial Intelligence Fusion Centers (PIFTACs) in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other provinces.
The Prime Minister praised NIFTAC as a game-changer in eradicating terrorism and breaking the connections between militant networks, illegal financing streams, and foreign intervention.
“By coordinating national resources and institutional capabilities, NIFTAC will have a critical role to play in facilitating quicker, more precise threat identification and response,” stated PM Shehbaz.
With its **state-of-the-art infrastructure** and central database, NIFTAC is geared to bolster Pakistan’s national defense posture, with solid coordination at all government and intelligence levels.
