President Zardari Leads Major Reforms for Cadet College Petaro

Karachi Web Desk – President Asif Ali Zardari presided over a special meeting of the Cadet College Petaro Board of Governors, held at the Chief Minister’s House. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed gratitude for the privilege of hosting the meeting and lauded the college as a beacon of academic excellence.

A Historic Institution Close to the President’s Heart

Addressing the participants, President Zardari warmly welcomed all attendees and shared his emotional connection to Cadet College Petaro, his alma mater.

He acknowledged the college’s pivotal role in producing leaders across politics, armed forces, civil services, and judiciary, highlighting its 66-year journey as a hallmark of excellence.

Key Decisions for Modernization and Development

The meeting was attended by notable dignitaries, including Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi, members of the provincial assembly, and senior officials. Several critical decisions were made to address the institution’s challenges and pave the way for its growth:

  1. Enhanced Facilities:
  • Construction of two additional swimming pools to complement the existing ones.
  • Establishment of ICT Labs with upgraded fiber networks and CCTV systems.
  • Introduction of smart screens for junior classes and ERP automation for operational efficiency.
  1. Infrastructure Upgrades:
  • Renovation of Iqbal and Qasim Houses and refurbishment of six other student houses.
  • Installation of new geysers and chillers in the cadet mess.
  • Expansion of the academic block and construction of new student houses.
  1. Welfare Initiatives:
  • Salary scale revisions for teaching staff.
  • Scholarships for high-achieving students.
  • Health insurance for employees and a housing scheme funded by allocated land and resources.
  • Approval of a 200-million-rupee grant for employee pension arrears.
  1. Sustainability Projects:
  • Installation of a 1,500-kilowatt solar power plant to reduce energy costs.
  • Reconstruction of a pumping station on the Indus River and laying a 12-inch water pipeline to the campus.
  1. Sports and Extracurriculars:
  • Increase in the number of horses for equestrian training from 23 to 40.
  1. Community Support:
  • Establishment of the Asif Ali Zardari Model High School for staff children and local residents.
  1. Endowment Fund:
  • Expansion of the college’s endowment fund to 2 billion rupees to secure its future.

Commitment to Excellence

President Zardari directed the Sindh Chief Minister to ensure the timely execution of these projects, reaffirming the government’s commitment to education. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced an increased regular grant of 300 million rupees and the inclusion of Cadet College Petaro in the Sindh Education Endowment Fund.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to elevate the institution’s standards and continue its legacy of shaping future leaders.
