Karachi Web Desk – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a crucial cabinet meeting attended by provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, the chief secretary, the principal secretary, the chairman of the Planning & Development Board, and other key officials.

  • Updates on Agricultural Income Tax
  • Digitization of Cabinet Proceedings

NFC Award: A Crucial Financial Review

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the seventh NFC (National Finance Commission) Award has been in effect since 2010. Under this system, the federal government distributes revenue from the divisible pool among the provinces based on a predetermined formula.

The divisible pool includes:

  • Income Tax
  • Capital Value Tax (excluding GST on services)
  • Federal Excise Duties (excluding excise duty on natural gas)
  • Customs Duties (excluding the Export Development Tax)

Revenue Share Distribution Among Provinces

According to CM Murad Ali Shah:

  • Punjab receives 51.74% of the NFC divisible pool
  • Sindh gets 24.55%
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is allocated 14.62%
  • Balochistan receives 9.09%

Sindh’s share in 2022 amounted to Rs. 498.067 billion. Over the last three fiscal years (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24), Sindh received Rs. 3002.43 billion, which was Rs. 77.16 billion short of the expected amount. However, these outstanding dues have now been cleared.

Digital Transformation of Cabinet Proceedings

Another major decision taken in the meeting was the digitization of cabinet processes. This move aims to enhance efficiency, streamline governance, and ensure better record-keeping.

The Sindh government remains committed to financial transparency, agricultural reforms, and modern governance. With these initiatives, the province aims for sustainable economic growth and efficient public administration.
