Sindh Government to Investigate Non-Functional RO Plants in Umerkot & Tharparkar.
Karachi Web Desk: Sindh’s Special Assistant for Public Health Engineering, Muhammad Saleem Baloch, chaired a crucial meeting to address concerns over Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Umerkot and Tharparkar.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Muhammad Bakhsh Jarwar, Project Director (PMU) Muhammad Sibghatullah Bhutto, and Chief Engineer (Development) Shaheed Benazirabad Shafiq Memon.
During the session, Saleem Baloch sought a comprehensive report on the operational status of RO plants in both regions. Officials provided a detailed briefing, outlining key challenges.
Ensuring Clean Water for the People
Saleem Baloch emphasized that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right of the people of Umerkot and Tharparkar. However, discrepancies between official reports and media findings have raised concerns.
“According to media reports, many RO plants in the region are non-functional,” he stated. To verify these claims, he announced a personal visit to inspect the facilities and ensure transparency.
Action Against Negligent Officers
The Special Assistant issued a stern warning, declaring that any negligence in providing clean water to the public will not be tolerated. He assured that strict action would be taken against incompetent officials responsible for depriving the people of their basic rights.
The Sindh government remains committed to resolving water issues in Umerkot and Tharparkar, ensuring every citizen has access to safe drinking water.
