Sindh Sports Minister Warns of Forming Separate Cricket Board Over Merit Concerns
Karachi Web Desk: Sindh’s Minister for Sports, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, has announced that if cricketers from Sindh continue to be overlooked on merit, the province will establish its own cricket board.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Provincial Youth Conference, organized by the Sindh government, the minister expressed concerns over the unfair treatment of Sindh’s talented cricketers.
“If our players are not given their rightful place based on merit, we will form our own cricket board. Cricket is not just limited to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—Sindh also has a strong cricketing presence,” Mehr stated.
He further criticized the national team selection process, pointing out that many players from Sindh who reach the national level often remain on the sidelines without being given a fair chance to perform.
On a positive note, Mehr assured that Sindh will give a grand welcome to the Champions Trophy and expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to defend its title successfully.
Additionally, he announced that the Youth Conference will now be expanded to district levels across Sindh to encourage young talent in various fields.
