Rebuilding Gaza: UN Says Cost and Timeline “Extremely Difficult” to Estimate

In an exclusive interview with an Arab TV channel in New York, Guterres emphasized the urgent need for a sustained ceasefire in the war-torn region.
“The most critical task right now is reopening the Rafah border crossing,” he stated, highlighting its importance for humanitarian aid and movement.
Guterres also warned against any attempt to displace Palestinians from Gaza, calling it a potential act of ethnic cleansing. He stressed that forcing Palestinians out would derail the long-standing two-state solution, further escalating tensions in the region.
