Benazir Income Support Program and Sindh Health Department Join Forces for Welfare Initiatives

KARACHI Web Desk: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sindh Minister for Health and Population Welfare, to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing welfare services for vulnerable populations.

During the meeting held in Karachi, both leaders explored ways to collaborate on delivering essential services through the Benazir Nashonuma Program and Sindh’s healthcare initiatives. Discussions revolved around improving maternal and child health, combating malnutrition, promoting vaccinations, and addressing population growth.

Key Highlights of the Collaboration:

  • Extensive Outreach Network: The Benazir Nashonuma Program in Sindh boasts 140 facilitation centers and 39 mobile teams dedicated to serving underprivileged families.
  • Integrated Services for Families: Senator Khalid emphasized the importance of dynamic registration centers equipped with NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) staff. This ensures that families registering for BISP can also conveniently complete their children’s birth registration.
  • Data Sharing for Better Targeting: Both departments agreed on a framework for bilateral data sharing to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their programs.
  • Unified Strategy Development: The need for a joint session involving BISP, the Health Department, and NADRA officials was underscored. This collaborative effort aims to streamline the registration process for eligible individuals and improve service delivery.

Senator Khalid reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to uplifting marginalized communities through sustainable partnerships, while Dr. Pechuho emphasized the critical role of integrated approaches in tackling health and welfare challenges.

This meeting marks a significant step toward improving the lives of women and children across Sindh, leveraging technology, innovation, and interdepartmental cooperation.
