KP Assembly to Reconsider PTM Ban, Refers Matter to Federal Government

Web Desk: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly’s Full House Committee has decided to raise the matter of reviewing the decision to declare the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) as a banned organization with the federal government.

In the inaugural meeting of the Full House Committee, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, key participants included the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Opposition Leader, and other members of the assembly.

The committee discussed a roadmap to address the demands raised by the Pashtun Qaumi Jirga. A subcommittee representing all political parties in the assembly was formed to expedite solutions to these demands. This subcommittee will present its recommendations within a week, which will then be submitted to the Full House Committee for further deliberation.

The meeting resolved to forward federal matters to the central government for necessary action and to delegate provincial issues to the KP government.

Additionally, the committee decided to bring the PTM ban under review by engaging with the federal government on this contentious issue. This step reflects the assembly’s intent to approach the matter with sensitivity and inclusiveness.

The collaborative approach highlights efforts to ensure broader political consensus and transparency in addressing the concerns of the Pashtun community.
