Sindh Government Gears Up to Take Over Green and Orange Line Bus Services by February 2025
Karachi Web desk: The Sindh government has completed all preparations to take over the management of the Green Line and Orange Line Bus Services by February 2025, ensuring a seamless transition for Karachi’s commuters.
A high-level meeting, chaired by Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, reviewed the formalities required to transfer the Green Line Bus Service from the federal government to the Sindh government. The meeting also discussed the operational transfer of the Orange Line Bus Service to the provincial authorities.

Ensuring a Smooth Transition
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon emphasized the need for an uninterrupted handover and directed consultants to accelerate the necessary formalities. Additionally, Asad Zaman was instructed to review the legal aspects of the contract to introduce necessary reforms.
Sindh Government Fully Prepared for Takeover
Memon revealed that the Green Line project was originally set to be transferred to the Sindh government in January 2025, but delays occurred at the federal level. However, Sindh authorities are now fully prepared to assume control in February 2025.
Concerns Over Expensive Federal Contracts
The minister highlighted concerns that the federal government had issued costly contracts under the Green Line project. Once under Sindh’s administration, a thorough review of these contracts will be conducted to ensure cost-effectiveness and better service quality.

Memon reaffirmed that the Green Line Bus Service is a vital lifeline for Karachi’s commuters, and his government is committed to improving its performance and service standards.
